Ferdinand Doederlein (1834-1915) Diaries

The collection contains the original diary of Doederlein's travels, transcriptions and translations, notes, and photographs. Two memory books contain entries dated 1857-1859 by his parents and siblings and by people at Neuendettelsau, including Gottfried Fritschel and Wilhelm Loehe, prior to his coming to the U.S.

Fricke, Karl IX (Frincke)

Contains correspondence concerning the Fricke (Frincke) travel diary, which he kept as the first Besucher (Visitor) of the LCMS. He was so commissioned at the first LCMS convention in 1847. The whereabouts of the diary is unknown. Also contains Otto Hattstaedt's article from Der Lutheraner, as well as a translation of the article. Hattstaedt's article is a summary of the diary, which he had in hand to produce the article.
