Telemegaphone. KFUO (Magnavox), 1925
Scope and Contents
This is a telemegaphone, Magnavox Type R2 MOD. C, No. 9179. This was in the KFUO studio about 1924 to 1927 so that speakers, including Walter A. Maier, could hear themselves. It is in two parts: the curved neck horn is black metal with tarnished brass accents. The horn has a maximum 18½” diameter x 28” high. There is a sketch of the speaker with a lion’s head protruding and the inscription: “THE MAGNAVOX Co. | OAKLAND, CALIF. U.S.A.” M82a. The base is 9” x 6” wood originally painted black, on four black feet, with four screw terminals on one end and a black metal box covering a rheostat? M82b
