Biographical / Historical
John Fritz was born on 30 July 1874 (Martin's Ferry, Ohio). After attending Concordia College (Fort Wayne), he graduated from Concordia Seminary (Saint Louis) in 1897. Fritz served as pastor (Pilot Knob, Missouri), Our Savior (Brooklyn, New York) and Bethlehem (Saint Louis). From 1920 to 1940 he served as the dean of Concordia Seminary (Saint Louis). From 1940 to 1949 he taught homiletics. With Walter A. Maier he co-founded KFUO. He also served on various synodical boards. Fritz died on 12 April 1953.
