Scope and Contents
The collection contains the original correspondence of Arthur and Anna Enge, J.A. Theiss, William Doege, and Walter Enge. Correspondence from 1908-1913 from the Enges is from Brazil to his relatives in Germany. There is a bound copy of the translations of all of the correspondence.

Biographical / Historical
Enge was born 22 April 1887 at Roehrsdorf, Saxony, Germany. He came to the U.S. at age 15 to study for the ministry and graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary, Springfield, Illinois, in 1908. He served as a missionary in Brazil until he died of typhoid fever 10 April 1913.
