Scope and Contents
The collection contains files from Ellwanger's office, including bound editions of "The Missionary Lutheran", books, films, and slides. There are also photos and a deconstructed and photocopied scrapbook relating to the Saint Louis City Lutheran Mission.

Biographical / Historical
Walter Ellwanger was born on 21 April 1897 in New Middleton, Indiana. In 1928 he graduated from Concordia Seminary (Saint Louis). He served parishes in Chillicothe, Missouri, the Lutheran City Mission in Saint Louis, and Waymansville, Indiana. From 1945 to 1967 he was the president of the Alabama Lutheran Academy and College in Selma, Alabama. Ellwanger died on 15 December 1982.
