Biographical / Historical
Walter Daib was born on 4 Mar 1904 in Merrill, Wisconsin. He was the son of Samuel Wilhelm Herman Daib and his wife, Hermine Dicke. Daib attended Concordia College, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, graduating in 1923. He then attended Concordia Seminary, Saint Louis, Missouri, graduating in 1927. He served congregations in Ontario and New York before becoming a chaplain in 1941. During World War 2 he served as a chaplain in the U.S. and Europe. From 1946 to 1949 he was a representative on the Board of Missions in Europe. From 1950 to 1955 he served on the Board of European Affairs. Daib retired in June of 1971 and died on 16 June 1982.
