Biographical / Historical
In this collection, there is a set of records titled, "Founding Documents". One excerpt from the first meeting minutes (April 4-5, 1978) indicates: "The paper "Coordinating Committee for Cooperative Projects in Congregational Life" was reviewed. The paper was developed by Kent Gilbert, Paul Hanson, and Vic Constien and agreed to by the three church presidents." [The three synods were probably, The American Lutheran Church, The Lutheran Church in America, and The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.] The minutes also state: "On-going CCCPCL committees will include: parish education, worship, evangelism, youth ministry, social ministry, and stewardship".
Another document summarizes the historical background: "For more than 40 years the ALC, LCA, and LC-MS and their predecessor bodies have cooperated in a variety of projects in the field of parish education. Originally the instrumentality for cooperation was the Inter-Synodical Committee on Parish Education. More recently, the group has been called the Coordinating Committee for Cooperative Parish Education Projects".
Media Resource Committee. "A three-way Media Resource Committee now is created to deal with proposed publication projects emanating from CCCPCL".
