Scope and Contents
The collection includes biography, correspondence, printed material, research material, sermons and letters relating to Boettcher's work in Canada, Minnesota, Chicago and Springfield, Illinois. It also includes materials on the LCMS Committee on Tests and Measurements, the Lutheran Business and Professional Group of the Twin Cities, the Lutheran Sunday School of the Air (Twin Cities) and the Springfield seminary.

Biographical / Historical
Boettcher was born 13 October 1893 at Storm Lake, Iowa, to Ernest and Katherine (nee Sievers) Boettcher. He graduated in 1918 from Concordia Seminary, Saint Louis, and was ordained at his home congregation on 18 August 1918. He served as a missionary in Alberta, Canada, and was pastor of several congregations in the Edmonton area. He was later director of Christian education for the Minnesota District, superintendent of the Lutheran High School Association of Chicago and a temporary instructor at Concordia Theological Seminary, Springfield, Illinois. He wrote and edited materials in the area of Christian education. He died 6 November 1979.
