The collection contains a register of Boettcher's pastoral acts as an itinerant preacher at churches in Minnesota (Lyon, Lincoln, Murray, Yellow Medicine, Redwood, and Renville) and Dakota (Moody Lake, Brookings, Deuel, and Codington) and a biography of Boettcher by William Staab, Theodore Kohlmeier and Werner Krause.

Christoph Boettcher was born on 9 November 1846. He served many years as an itinerant preacher. He died on 7 March 1919.
