Boerger was born 21 August 1923 at Racine, Wisconsin, the son of Pastor John F. Boerger Jr. He graduated from Concordia Seminary, Saint Louis, in 1947 and was ordained 18 May 1947 at the Lutheran Church of the Epiphany, Detroit, Michigan. He served as pastor at Cheboygan, Onaway and Northville, Michigan, from 1947 to 1986, when he retired. Boerger died December 9, 2016.
