Scope and Contents
The collection contains a transcript of the proceedings on the 22nd Convention of the Eastern District (1879), a prayer book, note cards, Matthias Hafenreffer's "Loci Theologie" (See also Library Catalog #: BX8064 .H34 1611), a bound set of manuscripts, sermons, and notes, certification materials, biography, etc.

Biographical / Historical
John P. Beyer was born on 26 June 1832. He immigrated to America in 1849 and moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana, to attend the Seminary. He then moved to Saint Louis to attend Concordia College until 1853. His first parish was in Memphis, Tennessee in 1855. He became President of the old East District in 1875 and vice-president of the Missouri Synod in 1893, an office he held for six years. He died on 19 January 1905.
