Biographical / Historical
Thomas Coates was born on 1 October 1910. He received his B.D in 1935 and his M.S.T. in 1942, both from Concordia Seminary (Saint Louis) and his Th.D. from the Chicago Lutheran Theological Seminary in 1950. From 1966 to 1968 he taught theology at Japan Lutheran Seminary (Tokyo) from 1969 to 1973 at Yonsei University and Lutheran Theological Academy (Seoul) and from 1973 to 1980 at Concordia Theological Seminary (Hong Kong). He died on 3 January 1980.
