Biographical / Historical
Otto H. Beer was born 8 April 1897 at Fairbank, Iowa, and died 9 December 1988 at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was the son of Rev. Robert and Dorothy (nee Wernowsky) Beer. He graduated from Concordia Seminary (Saint Louis) in 1920 and served as a missionary to Brazil and as a pastor in Springfield, Illinois, and Homestead, Iowa. He was vice-president of the Brazil District from 1924-1930 and a circuit counselor in the Iowa East District from 1947 to 1951. He was married to Lena Blume and the father of Herbert, Martin, Helen (Sandersfeld), Paula (Sandersfeld), Norma (Millison), Esther (Sandersfeld), Sylvia (Sandersfeld), Lois (Dunnaven). His funeral was held on 13 December 1988 at Williamsburg, Iowa, and he was buried at Homestead, Iowa.
