Our Redeemer Lutheran Church (Ojai, California) Official Acts

The first worship service for this congregation occurred on April 25, 1954 in the chapel of the California Preparatory School for Boys. Rev. Kurt Klein took over the ministry of the congregation that October by commission of the Mission Board of the Southern California District of the LCMS. The congregation began worshiping in the Ojai Valley Women's Clubhouse at the end of May 1955, and was officially organized on June 19, 1955. Pastor Klein accepted the call from the congregation in 1956 and was installed on June 10, 1956. The Southern California District also purchased land for the church property in June 1956. Groundbreaking for a new church site took place on July 10, 1960. The parish hall was dedicated in 1961. The fifth anniversary of dedication of the new church building was held on May 1, 1966.
