Biographical / Historical

Saint John Lutheran Church, Marion was organized as the result of a split in the congregation of Trinity, Griswold. Pastor H. Kieweno was asked to lead this group, but he first wanted them to try one more time to reunite with the other congregation. Since their efforts were in vain, Pastor Kieweno agreed to lead Saint John. The first service of this congregation was held in October 1896. The congregation was organized and selected the name of Saint John on February 10, 1897. This congregation closed in 1964.
