Paul F. Arndt (1891-1969) Sermon Collection
Scope and Contents
The collection consists of a bound volume of handwritten German sermons for the 1867-1868 church year, preached at Geestendorf [near Bremerhaven]. The author is unknown. The collection is filed under Arndt's name as donor. In his letter of 9 March 1967 offering the volume to CHI, Arndt wrote: "I know that my father, while professor at Concordia, St. Paul, Minn., was for a time interested in writing a history of the Lutheran Church in Minnesota. This book may have some connection with that proposed enterprise. Were they possibly written by one of the Minnesota pioneers who had served a pastorate in Geestendorf before coming to America?" [Css., Arndt to August R. Suelflow, 9 March 1967]
