Biographical / Historical

Epiphany Evangelical Lutheran Church was organized on March 3, 1895. This was made possible by Rev. K.C. Bubeck, who made contact with German Lutheran families in the Stanley / Edson areas while serving congregations in Cadott, Bod and Reseburg. Services were held in members' homes and several rented buildings. The Sunday School was organized several years later. A church building was constructed in 1921 and dedicated on May 21, 1922. Epiphany joined the LCMS on January 8, 1922. The church was incorporated as Epiphany Evangelical Lutheran Church on October 2, 1921. A basement addition was added in 1955. Construction continued over the basement addition, and dedication services were held for the new addition on May 6, 1962. The mortgage was retired in 1972. A free-standing bell tower was built in 1974. Improvements were made to the building over the years. A new organ was given in 1984, an electric keyboard was purchased in 1990, and stained-glass windows were installed in 1991. Epiphany celebrated 100 years in 1995. A dual parish agreement was entered into with Saint Paul Lutheran Church (Thorp, Wisconsin). Epiphany closed on June 2, 2019, with a worship service and congregational meal.
