Biographical / Historical
Saint John was organized in 1854 as a daughter congregation of Zion (now Trinity) Lutheran Church, Crete, Illinois. Saint John joined the LCMS in 1860. The present church building was built in 1866. This congregation was the mother church to Saint Paul Lutheran Church, Beecher, Illinois. In 1943, the constitution of the church was translated into English and two English services per month were introduced. In 1944, a basement was dug under the church buillding.
