Biographical / Historical
Messiah Lutheran Church (Keokuk, Iowa) became an official congregation of the LCMS on January 29, 1928. This group was without a church building until the dedication of a basement church at the present location on June 16, 1935. The current church structure was built on top of the original basement church and was completed and dedicated on June 7, 1953. Between 1987-2002, Messiah was served by pastors who were called to Concordia Lutheran Church (Warsaw, Illinois) due to Messiah's financial situation. In Spring 2002, Messiah entered into a dual parish relationship with Concordia. The closing service for Messiah was held on December 2, 2018.
