Biographical / Historical
In 1889 a preaching station was established in Pitcairn, Pennsylvania. In 1893, this Evangelical Lutheran congregation was officially organized. Rev. Walter Koenig was installed as the first pastor on September 1, 1895. A church building was built and dedicated on November 22, 1896. Services were conducted in German. During the late 1950s an interest in mission work was increasing in the area now known as Monroeville. In 1963, Trinity purchased property in Monroevilleand sold the parsonage in Pitcairn so another one could be purchased in Monroeville. Groundbreaking occur ed in June 1966 for the new church building. The origiinal bell from the Pitcairn building was installed at the Monroeville building. The new church building was dedicated on May 14, 1967. Trinity opened a Preschool and Kindergarten in September 1967. In 1989, Trinity had a new roof installed, remodeled the Narthex, and added a new wing. The new wing was dedicated in May 1990.
