The folder contains the transcriptions and translations of two letters from Ade, in Jonesboro, to the Rev. Inspector Grossman, in Saint Seebald, Iowa. They detail mostly biographical information about Ade. This material was donated by Louis H. Bauer in December 1980.

Biographical / Historical
J. Gottl Ade studied under Christian Hoffman in Wuerttemberg from 1849-53, at the evangelical school for Inner Mission. He came to America in 1857 and served as the editor of "Zeichen der Zeit" for eight years.
