John Klotz was born on 10 January 1918 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Concordia Seminary (Saint Louis) in 1941. He served as an instructor, first at Concordia College (Bronxville, New York: 1941 to 1943), then at Bethany Lutheran College (Mankato, Minnesota: 1943 to 1945), at Concordia Teachers College (River Forest: 1945 to 1959), at Concordia Senior College (Fort Wayne: 1959 to 1974), and finally at Concordia Seminary (Saint Louis: 1974 to 1988). He also served on such synodical committees as the Committee on Constitutional Matters and the Committee for Research. He died on 11 April 1996.
