Biographical / Historical
In 1945, members of Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Ogden, Utah, who were living in Layton found it difficult to obtain gasoline for their cars to attend services in Ogden. Therefore, Rev. Harold Brauer began to conduct services at the Layton City Hall. Trinity was organized on November 1, 1948. The congregation then began worshipping at the Verdeland Park Community Hall. In 1954 the congregation received its first subsidy from the Colorado District and purchased property. The same year, an army barracks was purchased, and the congregation transformed it into a chapel. The chapel was dedicated on March 20, 1955. The first full-time ordained pastor, Rev. Donald Balster, arrived in 1956. A parsonage was built and dedicated in 1959. Ground was broken for a new church building on April 19, 1964 and was dedicated on November 8, 1964. In 1971, the congregation decided to build an education wing, and this was completed and dedicated on November 21, 1971. The congregation celebrated its 25th anniversary on November 4, 1973. Trinity closed in October 2014.
