Grace Lutheran Church (Hanna, Wyoming) Records

The first Missouri Synod Lutheran services to be held in Hanna were conducted by the Rev. G. H. Liebenow of Rawlins on August 4, 1946. After several months the services were discontinued. Rev. H. F. Krohn of Rawlins resumed them on April 15, 1956. Grace Lutheran Church was organized on September 13, 1956. In July 1957, the Hanna State and Savings Bank building was purchased for the first permanent house of worship. The building was remodeled and dedicated on December 21, 1958. It served the congregation for about 14 years. In 1961, the Platte Valley Lutheran Church in Saratoga, Wyoming was organized as a dual parish with Grace. Saratoga membership was transferred to Grace, and the congregations shared pastors and vicars. Groundbreaking services for the new church building for Grace were held on August 15, 1971, and construction was completed in time for Christmas Eve services that same year. Grace Lutheran Church held the closing worship service on October 12, 2014.
