Scope and Contents
This collection consists of correspondence of Rev. Berthold von Schenk, Rev. James. F. von Schenk, and Rev. Kenneth Haupt. There is some information on the congregation and the school. Half of the collection is composed of sermons by Rev. Dr. Thomas Nelson Green, dating from 1991-1999.

Biographical / Historical
The first worship service of Our Saviour Lutheran Church (also know as The Lutheran Church of Our Saviour) was held in a store on September 11, 1927. Rev. George Koenig of Saint Paul, Tremont conducted the first services. A house to serve as both residence and chapel was purchased in November 1928. The congregation was incorporated in September 1932 as The Ev. Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, U.A.C. of New York, NY. A contract was signed for a chapel in January 1935, the cornerstone was laid in October 1935, and dedication of the Chapel took place in December 1935. The congregation became self-supporting in January 1941, and the congregation resolved to open a Christian Day School in January 1942. The school opened that September. Ground was broken for a new school building in June 1944, and it was dedicated in November 1944. The New Chapel was dedicated in December 1950, and the Old Chapel was converted into classrooms, office and conference room.
