Biographical / Historical
In the 1960s, the South Wisconsin District purchased land for an advance mission site in Kenosha. Lamb of God Lutheran Church purchased this land from the District in 1996. The congregation's first worship service was held on November 24, 1991 in a public school gym. Rev. Ron Rock served as mission developer for Lamb of God during his vicarage year of 1991. In 1992, Rev. Wayne Schiesow was called as assistant pastor to Good Shepherd/Pleasant Praire, the mother congregation of Lamb of God. He brought the congregation through its chartering with the LCMS in 1993. In 2000, the congregation sold the land in Kenosha and bought property in Pleasant Praire that once housed a daycare center. Renovation/expansion of the building began that September. The first worship service in the new building took place on March 13, 2002. The education wings and organ were dedicated on April 14, 2002. The sanctuary was dedicated on May 19, 2002. The congregation formed a Lutheran Day School, Christ Lutheran Academy, with Messiah, Kenosha, which opened in September 2002. The school moved to Messiah in 2009. From the Lutheran Annual, it appears that Lamb of God closed in 2015, as it is listed that year, but not in 2016.
