Biographical / Historical
In August 1955, Rev. Robert E. Jones arrived after receiving his first call into the ministry as missionary to Garland. The first services were held on October 2, 1955, and Rev. Jones was ordained and installed on October 9, 1955. The first services were held in a diner called the Forest Lane Cafe. Land was purchased for a church building in November 1955. The Parish Hall was dedicated on September 16, 1956. In May 1968, the sanctuary and organ were dedicated. By the mid-1970s, the congregation had secured a daily devotional radio program, featuring Rev. Schroeter and a weekly television program called "Prince of Peace", which later became "Know the Truth". Evangelistic outreach and assimilation were done through Kirk Miller, who became lay minister in 1982. In 1984, a parochial school program began with a preschool and daycare. By 1988, the school included 3rd grade. The school officially closed in 1991 due to financial limitations. This congregation is still open in 2019.
