Biographical / Historical
Rev. Nuelken was ordained and installed as pastor on January 24, 1937 to found and organize a mission congregation in Northeast Detroit that became Redemption Lutheran Church. The first worship service was held on February 14, 1937. The first building was dedicated on December 19, 1937, and the first parsonage was completed in December 1938. The congregation outgrew their building, so on May 1, 1949, the second building was dedicated. A second parsonage was dedicated on April 22, 1956. Ground was broken on April 10, 1960 for a Christian Education Building which was dedicated on December 11, 1960. Redemption closed in 2015.
