Biographical / Historical
The first service and meeting of Saint Mark Lutheran Church was in 7/1953. The Rev. Truman Broetzmann, missionary-at-large of the South Wisconsin District of the LCMS was assigned to serve the congregation until a pastor could be called. The young congregation had been designated as Ravenswood Lutheran Church, but on 4/8/1954, the name of Saint Mark Lutheran Church was officially adopted. On 4/25/1955, ground was broken for the church building. The first pastor, Rev. Robert Boedecker, was called and installed on 5/15/1955. The cornerstone for the building was laid on 7/24/1955, and the building was dedicated on 5/19/1957. A parsonage was built and ready for occupancy on 7/1/1957. The second pastor was Rev. David Rockrohr, who was installed on 8/13/1967. In 1993, Rev. Rockrohr was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, so his last Sunday leading the congregation was on 8/29/1993. Rev. Allen Pringel accepted the call and was installed on 6/12/1994. The closing service took place on 10/5/2014.
