Biographical / Historical
The materials in this collection are from the Lutheran Welfare Society, Lutheran City Mission of Cook County, Chicago Lutheran City Mission, Wohlthatigkeits Vereins, Evangelical Lutheran Stadtmission, and the Oak Forest Mission/Ebenezer Lutheran Church (and possibly other entities) all of which seem to be intertwined. According to a newspaper clipping in the collection, a pastor had tried to organize a congregation among the patients at the Oak Forest Hospital/Infirmary; this was eventually named Ebenezer. There was also a cemetery involved.
