The folder contains a photocopy of a letter Stechhols wrote describing his reasons for leaving the Buffalo Synod and joining the Missouri Synod, written on 21 July 1892, and the translation of the same.

Biographical / Historical
Hermann Conrad Wilhelm Stechhols was born 9 May 1852 in Buffalo, New York. He graduated from Martin Luther College and Seminary in Buffalo, and was ordained in January 1974 by J. A. Grabau. He began his pastoral ministry at Saint Martini Evangelical Lutheran Church (Martinsville, New York). Shortly after Grabau's death, Stechhols resigned from the Buffalo Synod and joined the Missouri Synod in 1879. He served as pastor of Saint Paul Evangelical Church (Paterson, New Jersey) and Immanuel Lutheran Church (Rutherford, New Jersey). He died in 1928.
