Biographical / Historical
George Berkhardt Sohn was born 13 June 1862 at Frankenmuth, Michigan. After his confirmation he attended the Missouri Synod teachers seminary at Addison, Illinois, completing his studies in 1883. He was first called to teach at New Wells, Missouri, and in 1889 moved to Detroit, Michigan, where he taught until his death on 11 February 1919. While at New Wells, he married Anna Hubinger of Frankenmuth. She died 12 years later. In 1897 he married Karoline Bieski. He had one son, Pastor Otto Emanuel Melchior Sohn, and five daughters.
