Scope and Contents
The collection consists of his certification for ordination signed by C. F. W. Walther, G. Schaller and Aug. Craemer, and several sermons, most of which are from his service as Wisconsin District mission director and were used repeatedly at various locations around the district.

Biographical / Historical
Henry Sieck was born 1 July 1850 in the Mannheim area in Germany. When he was four years old, his parents immigrated to the U.S. and settled in Baltimore, Maryland. He attended Concordia College, Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Concordia Seminary, Saint Louis, completing his studies in 1873 and receiving a call to Memphis, Tennessee. Subsequent parishes were in South Bend, Indiana; Erie, Pennsylvania; Saint Louis, Missouri (Zion Lutheran Church); and Stillwater, Minnesota. In 1893 he became director (president) of Saint John College, Winfield, Kansas, but remained only a year and a half because of his health. He next was pastor of Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Milwaukee, Wisconsin and in 1905 he became mission director of the Wisconsin District, serving for eleven years. He died 7 September 1916. He was the father of Louis J. Sieck, president of Concordia Seminary, Saint Louis.
