Biographical / Historical
This congregation began in late 1984 as the result of a Bible Study at Trinity, Freistadt, Wisconsin. In 1985, the South Wisconsin District heard that a parcel of land was available for a church on the northwest side of Milwaukee. A missionary was called as a result of a positive demographic study for that area. Rev. Richard Markworth from Sergeant Bluff, Iowa was called to begin the Mission Church, being installed as Missionary at Large on July 11, 1987. The first worship service took place on November 1, 1987 in the basement of Security Savings and Loan. Rev. Markworth was officially installed as the first pastor on July 9, 1989. Groundbreaking services for the building took place on May 23, 1989. The first service took place in the new building on February 25, 1990, and was dedicated on June 10, 1990. The congregation closed in 2006.
