John Schwoy was born on 5 December 1859 in Paterson, New Jersey. He graduated from Concordia Seminary, Saint Louis in 1883 and served congregations in Texas, Virginia, and New Jersey. He also taught English at Concordia College, Hawthorne, New York. Schwoy died on 6 December 1927.
