Biographical / Historical
Frederic Charles Eugene Schumann was born September 16, 1897 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended Concordia College (Fort Wayne, Indiana) and Concordia Seminary (Saint Louis), graduating from the latter in 1922. He served congregations in New York, Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming before being called to First Trinity, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1945. He served there until his retirement in 1964, upon which he was installed as the associate chaplain for the Pittsburgh Lutheran Church Extension Society. He served them until late 1979. He was the editor of The Pittsburgh Lutheran from 1954 until almost 1980. He was granted an honorary doctorate from Concordia Seminary, Saint Louis in 1976. He died in Pittsburgh July 11, 1983.
