Biographical / Historical
Otto Schmidt was born on 27 December 1886 in Crystal Lake, Illinois. He graduated from Concordia Seminary, Saint Louis in 1909 and served congregations in Canada, Minnesota, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. He was a member of the Board of Electors for Concordia Seminary, Saint Louis from 1932 to 1941. He served on the Committee on Hymnology and Liturgics from 1934 until 1957. From 1940 until 1958 he was the executive secretary of the Board of Missions. He died in November 1971.
