Biographical / Historical
Lewerenz was born 26 March 1884 at Effingham, Illinois, the son of Pastor William and Hulda (nee Maske) Lewerenz. He graduated in 1907 from Concordia Seminary (Saint Louis) and was ordained and installed as pastor of Emanuel Lutheran Church (Pleasant Grove, Missouri) on September 8, 1907. He also served parishes in Janestown, Missouri; and Utica, Michigan; before becoming a professor at Concordia College (Fort Wayne, Indiana) on December 7, 1923. He retired in 1954 and died in Fort Wayne on 24 February 1966. He is buried in Fort Wayne.
