Biographical / Historical
Ernst H. Scheips was born in Wimmer Hanover, German on 12 November 1847. He emigrated to the United States in 1862 and settled in Cleveland, Ohio. After completing his education at Concordia Seminary in Saint Louis in 1875, Scheips accepted a call to Kossoth County, Iowa, and then to Stony Ridge, Ohio in 1880. He then moved to Hobart, Indiana, then to Peru, Indiana. He was married to Louise Nolte in the spring of 1976. He died on 14 July 1920.
