Biographical / Historical
The The St. Louis Lutheran, the reporting organ of the Saint Louis Lutheran Publicity Organization, was founded on September 23, 1945. The paper was first published bi-weekly by the organization, but on January 22, 1977, after a severe financial crisis had nearly forced the paper to cease operations, the schedule of monthly publication was initiated.
The editors of the paper have been: Gerhardt Mahler, 1945-1952, Harold Schultz, 1953-1954, Richard Hanneman, 1954, Arnold A. Wessler, 1954-1963, Walter Riess, 1963, Herbert H. Mirly, 1964-1968, Doris M. Unger, 1969-1974 as Managing Editor, and 1974-1975 as Editor, and Peter Faur, 1975-1977 (April 18). The position of editor was made a part-time position in 1977, thus Peter Faur became the Interim Editor until someone can be found to fill the part-time editorship.
