Biographical / Historical
Rodney R. Rynearson was born 1 June 1935 in Leigh, Nebraska. After graduating from Saint John College in Winfield, Kansas, he enrolled at Concordia Seminary in Saint Louis. He graduated from the Seminary in 1959, and was ordained and installed at Faith Deaf Lutheran Church in Spokane, Washington. He served as Missionary to the Deaf in Spokane (WA), Montana, and Idaho from 1959-1967; Missionary to the Deaf in Western New York, Pastor of Alpha (Deaf) in Rochester, New York and Campus Chaplain of the Rochester Institute of Technology from 1967-1974; Executive Director of the Lutheran School for the Deaf in Detroit from 1974-1986; and Counselor for Deaf and Blind Missions of the Board for Mission Services from 1987-2000. He retired in 2000.
