Scope and Contents
The collection contains a copy of his certificate of appointment as immigration agent, an insurance policy taken out in 1869 at the time of his appointment, photocopies of photographs of Reisig and his wife, Seraphina Liedel and a copy of his obituary from the Monroe Commercial, 17 November 1882.

Biographical / Historical
Reisig was born in Bavaria, 12 April 1832 and immigrated to Monroe, Michigan with his parents in 1847. We was a tailor until 1866. Governor Baldwin of Michigan appointed him immigration agent for the state in 1869, a position that involved his residing in Germany. He died in November 1882.
