Biographical / Historical
In 1928 Rev. Paul Brauer honored the request of a small group of people in Orchard Lake, Minnesota for his services. This area was part of the mission field assigned to him. It was known as the Orchard Lake Mission. Sunday School was held in their homes. They then met in the Argonne Community Center, followed by the Orchard Lake School. In 1937 the school’s facilities were no longer available, so on March 24, 1938 a meeting was called to organize a congregation, adopt a constiution, incorporate, purchase a building site, and request a loan from the District. On April 18, 1938, the name Lutheran Church of the Redeemer was chosen for the congregation. The first cornerstone was placed and the chapel dedicated on May 7, 1939. The mortgage on this chapel was paid off in 1954. A Relocation Committee was formed in 1959, and the new building was dedicated on May 14, 1961. Redeemer was the first Lutheran church ever built in Burnsville. A parsonage was dedicated across from the church on December 13, 1962. The parsonage was moved in 1971, and sold in 1980. A fellowshihp hall was bult and dedicated in 1975.
The congregation celebrated their 25th anniversary on September 25, 1963.
A new Worship Facility was dedicated in 1983. In 1993, the congregation moved into the former Good Shepherd Lutheran Church facility and celebrated this dedication on September 19, 1993.
