Biographical / Historical

Paul Buszin was born on 27 February 1873. He graduated from the teachers seminary at Addison, Illinois, in 1892, to become a Lutheran school teacher. He taught schools at Saint Martin (Clintonville, Wisconsin); Saint Peter (Milwaukee, Wisconsin); and First Bethlehem (Chicago, Illinois) following also an interest in music and conducting a number of choirs. In August of 1918 he was called to become the first superintendent of schools in the Missouri Synod, serving the Northern Illinois District of the LCMS in this capacity for over 16 years. He died on 9 September 1944. -Connie Seddon
