Charles A. Panhorst Papers
Scope and Contents
The collection contains an autograph book from the period when Panhorst was a student at Concordia College, Fort Wayne, Indiana (1889-1895) and later entries by members of his family. It also contains a letter to Rev. Robert G. Lange, 6 April 1953, with information about Pastor W. C. Boese and the Schiefer family in Fort Wayne.

Biographical / Historical
Panhorst was born 30 July 1874 in Saint Louis, Missouri. He attended Concordia College, Fort Wayne, Indiana from 1889 to 1895 and graduated from Concordia Seminary, Saint Louis, in 1898. He served several congregations in Michigan before leaving the ministry for health reasons in 1915. On 22 April 1900 he married Caroline M. C. Heidel in Montcalm County, Michigan. The 1920 census indicates that they had five children and were living in Saint Joseph, Michigan, where he was employed as a cabinet maker in a furniture factory. He was living in Saint Louis in 1953.
