The collection contains correspondence, sermons and personal papers, including report cards from his student days at Saint Paul Gymnasium (Concordia, Missouri: 1909-1915).

Biographical / Historical
John Oppliger was born 19 October 1895 at Lincoln Center, Kansas, the son of Fredrick and Friedoline Hermine (nee Steinborn) Oppliger. He served a vicarage at Hereford and Rhea, Texas, 1916-1917, and graduated from Concordia Seminary (Saint Louis) in 1919. He was ordained and installed at Immanuel Lutheran Church (Saint Louis, Missouri) on 3 August 1919 and served his entire ministray at that congregation until he retired in 1964. He died on 12 March 1969 at Hampton, Nebraska, where he was buried.
