Biographical / Historical
Walter Henry Niermann was born on 2 July 1927 in Overland, Missouri. He attended Saint Paul High School and College in Concordia, Missouri before enrolling at Concordia Seminary in Saint Louis. Upon his graduation in 1952, Niermann was installed as Pastor of Grace Lutheran in Blairstown, Iowa. In 1957, he accepted a call to be the founding Pastor of Our Redeemer Lutheran in Iowa City, Iowa. He remained in Iowa City until 1984, when he accepted a call to Saint Paul in Amherst, Ohio. He retired in 1992.
