Scope and Contents
The collection contains Nickel's notes from Lutherstunden lectures given by C. F. W. Walther in 1885-1886: "Die Inspirationsfrage behandelt, Prf. Dr. Walther, St. Louis, Mo., Concordia Seminary, nach Notizen ausgearbeitet von Th. Nickel, stud. theol." Nickel's notes cover lectures through 4 June 1886 (Theses 1 and 2).

Biographical / Historical
Theodore Nickel was born in 1865 in Guestrow, Mecklenburg, Germany. He attended the Guestrow Gymansium and the University of Rostock before immigrating to America to study under C. F. W. Walther at Concordia Seminary (Saint Louis). In 1901 he went to Australia and served as the president of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Australia. In 1923 he went to Germany and served as the president of the Lutheran Free Church until his retirement in 1931. He died on 27 November 1953.
