Biographical / Historical
Lauer was born 17 September 1934 at Carroll, Iowa. He graduated from Concordia Seminary (Saint Louis) in 1960 and was called by the Board for Missions of the LCMS to serve as a missionary in Korea. He served as treasurer-business manager of the Korean Lutheran Mission until 1965, at which time he returned to the United States and became pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church (Blue Earth, Minnesota). In 1958 he was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U. S. Army and attended chaplain school at Fort Slocum, New York.
