Biographical / Historical
August Lange was born on 5 January 1864 in Saint Louis, Missouri. He attended Concordia College, Fort Wayne before graduating from Concordia Seminary, Saint Louis in 1886. He served as pastor in Freemont, Nebraska (1886 to 1891), assistant pastor in Chicago, (1891 to 1894), and pastor in Saint Louis (1894 to 1896). He then assumed pastoral charge of Saint Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, organizing it as Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church from 1900 to 1922. He died on 29 November 1938.
